FAQ
Questions,
answered.
Does it work with any coffee?
Any bag with a label. bean reads specialty labels best; if it can’t read yours, type the details in. It takes a minute.
What does the coach actually do?
For espresso it reads your last shot, dose, yield and time, against the window you’re aiming for, and tells you which way to turn your grinder and roughly how far. For V60 and AeroPress it reads how the cup tasted alongside the drawdown or the press, and picks one change: the grind, the coffee, the water, the steep or how you press.
What’s in bean+?
The coach, your palate by process and origin, a verdict on each bag and a suggestion for your next one. Logging coffees, cups and shots is always free.
Which grinders does it know?
Over forty home grinders, hand and electric, so it can say “two clicks finer” instead of “a bit finer”. If yours isn’t listed, type it in.
Who sees my coffee?
Your journal stays on your phone. Once you sign in, the numbers from your shots and scores are shared under a random ID, and other people only ever see them as totals, never with your name. You can turn it off on You. The privacy policy has the details.
Is there an Android version?
It’s on the way. bean is in beta on iPhone first, and the Android version is in testing.
